Election Day is February 27, 2025!

To make sure you are registered to vote, check out the Elections Ontario website.

Here you can also find information about where and how to vote (including early voting and voting by mail options) and download the Elections Ontario app.

Get Involved!
  • Let your local candidate know that Ontario’s film and television industry is important to you.
  • Attend a local all-candidates meeting.
  • Ask questions when a candidate comes knocking on your door.
  • Drop by a local campaign office – here’s a handy guide on how to do it!

Did you know?

  • Ontario’s world class film and television industry contributed $7.8 billion in direct spending to the provincial economy over the past three years.

    • This spending supported small businesses across the province and created jobs for nearly 45,000 people.
  • The workforce is highly trained, diverse, and talented.

    • They work on top Canadian shows like Schitt’s Creek, Murdoch Mysteries, Late Bloomer and Shoresy, as well as major international productions such as Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Reacher, and The Handmaid’s Tale.
  • Creating great Canadian shows and working on the world’s best content is Ontario’s unique strength as a filming jurisdiction.

Ask your local candidate:

  • Does your party support stable tax credits?

  • Will your party work with the industry to make sure Ontario’s tax credits remain competitive in a global marketplace?

  • Will your party invest in domestic content creation – to develop, produce and market original intellectual property from a wide range of diverse storytellers?

  • Will your party support training programs that consider the unique needs of our sector?

Campaign season is a fantastic time to meet local candidates from all political stripes. Campaign offices are focused on engaging with local constituents, and they are often buzzing with volunteers – volunteers who may end up working in political positions after the election!

If you have just 10 minutes to spare, we highly encourage you to swing by your local campaign office. It’s a simple but meaningful gesture to say hello to the volunteers and campaign managers. Your friendly words of encouragement can go a long way, and you may even walk away with some useful insights into the candidate’s vision and goals.

It’s a great opportunity to engage in a positive way, to keep the atmosphere constructive, and to remind the candidate and their team that their efforts are appreciated. You don’t need to give a lengthy speech – a simple message is enough.

For example, you could open with:
“Hi, my name is Sam, and I’m a member of FilmOntario. I just wanted to stop by and wish you the best of luck in the upcoming election.”

Then, tell them a bit about yourself – what you do, a project you’ve worked on lately, etc.

And end with – “All parties have always supported the industry in Ontario, which we appreciate, and we hope we can count on your continued support after the election!”

Short, simple, and supportive!

If you do want to do a campaign office visit, please let Cynthia know!  You can also visit multiple offices, from all political stripes!

We can help you find your local offices and make it as easy as possible to get involved. Political engagement is the key to making your voice heard and strengthening our democracy – every small action helps create a greater impact. 😊
