It is critical for our industry to work together to ensure the ongoing growth and competitiveness of Ontario’s screen-based sector. We work with all levels of government to make sure they understand the impact and importance of our sector. As part of FilmOntario, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the conversation. Together, our united voice on behalf of Ontario’s entire industry is a powerful advocacy tool.
How We Operate
- We are a not-for-profit industry organization funded entirely by our Members
- We are run by a volunteer Board of Directors made up of industry leaders from labour and private sector Member organizations, and our Managing Director
- We create issue-specific Member-based working groups when needed to address industry challenges and opportunities as they arise
Some Recent Accomplishments

Advocated successfully to improve Ontario’s tax credits, including:
• OCASE un-tethering
• expanded eligibility for location fees in the OPSTC
• making online productions eligible for the OFTTC - Worked with the provincial and municipal governments to re-start the industry safely during Covid-19, and keep the industry working while many other parts of the economy were shut down
- Worked with municipal governments to ensure film-friendly policies and protect employment lands for studio development across the province
- Made sure that Ontario’s industry had a voice in recent CRTC proceedings regarding the implementation of Bill C-11

- Under 5 employees: $1,575
- 5 to 10 employees: $2,625
- Over 10 employees: $5,250
