FilmOntario is pleased to extend congratulations to Sylvia Jones, who was sworn in as the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport last Friday. Minister Jones is an experienced MPP, representing the riding of Dufferin Caledon since 2007, during which time she held several critic portfolios and served as Deputy House Leader. She also has a diploma in radio broadcasting from Fanshawe College, and worked as Executive Assistant to current Toronto mayor John Tory when he was leader of the PCs.
We are also extremely pleased to congratulate Vic Fedeli on his appointment as Minister of Finance. Many of you know Minister Fedeli from his time as Finance Critic and MPP for Nipissing, or possibly from filming on location in his hometown of North Bay. Minister Fedeli has long been a vocal supporter of the film and television industry, and we look forward to working with him in his new role.
As always, FilmOntario will be working with all parties at Queen’s Park to highlight issues of importance to our $1.6 billion industry, particularly the importance of stable and effective tax credits. For a full list of the new Cabinet, please see this release.
