What does FilmOntario do?

We work with all levels of government to make sure they understand the impact and importance of our sector. We also work with partners to promote Ontario as the best place in the world for film and TV production.

How do we do it?

We are a not-for-profit industry organization, funded 100% by our members.

Our Managing Director works with a volunteer Board of Directors made up of industry leaders from labour and private sector member organizations.

We solicit feedback from members on specific industry challenges and opportunities as they arise.

What have we achieved?

Successfully advocated to the government on tax credit issues, including:

OCASE un-tethering,
expanded eligibility for location fees in the OPSTC,
making online productions eligible for the OFTTC,
a commitment to implement tax credit processing time service standards at Ontario Creates.

Worked with government to re-start the industry safely during Covid-19, and keep the industry working while many other parts of the economy were shut down.

Worked with municipal governments to ensure film-friendly policies and protect employment lands for studio development across the province.

Made sure that Ontario’s industry had a voice in recent CRTC proceedings regarding the implementation of Bill C-11.
