Ontario Creates and Ontario Green Screen commission report, Advancing Waste Management Practices in Ontario’s Film and Television Industry, to benchmark waste practices across film and television productions of varying sizes and identify opportunities to facilitate material reuse.
We are pleased to share that Ontario Green Screen and Ontario Creates have released a report to further best practices around waste management on film and TV productions in Ontario. FilmOntario has been a partner of Ontario Green Screen since its inception.
Ontario Green Screen was a sponsor of the recent Sustainable Production Forum in Toronto where the report was launched. A Vancouver edition of the Sustainable Production Forum is coming up in mid-October.
The in-person Toronto event had multiple panels on clean energy, sustainability and more, with a keynote address from former Toronto Mayor David Miller, plus workshops, opportunities to meet vendors and see demonstrations of green technology.
FilmOntario’s Cynthia Lynch hosted an exclusive panel at the Forum featuring Daniel Bekerman (Scythia Films/Good Question Media), Shane Harker (Rethink Resource) and Angelica Siegel (Cream Productions). Entitled Circularity And The Importance Of Diversion Practices In The Film And TV Industry, the panel discussed the launch of the Waste Management Report, and dove in-depth on barriers to waste diversion and immediate opportunities for action. From improving production accountability to shifting the culture through education and engagement, we can all work towards greener sets in Ontario.
